This Story Really Touched Me..

‘Dumped on my death bed’: Man ‘dumps’ wife days after she’s paralysed by stroke

A mum-of-four ‘dumped’ by her husband days after being paralysed by a stroke has found love again with the personal trainer who helped her recover.

Riona Kelly, 37, was left paralysed from the waist down following a spinal stroke and was told she would never walk again.

After just five days in hospital, she claims her husband Richard – who she had been with for 14 years – requested a divorce.

But the mum from Halifax, West Yorkshire, fought on, taking her first steps eight weeks later – and has since found love with her personal trainer, Keith Mason, 35.

I was saddened when I read the headline, I was happy that she is making it through this and has found happiness, I was mad at the fact that her husband left her at the worst moment in her life.. And my resolve to continue my work with pink for peace is stronger than ever. We as as people have to have more compassion for one another. And treat each other in a more civilized manner.  Any changes we feel compelled to make in our lives do not have to be accomplished at the expense of others.

Have You Ever Said This To Yourself?

Sit back a moment relax and let your mind clear. Then say this to yourself: ” I Believe In Me”

I believe in me

Then make a mental note of how that made you feel. How your mood may have changed. Did it inspire you in some way?

Self talk is very important to your own well being. Because it is how we feel about ourselves that has so much influence on everything we think and do. When I get up in the morning no matter how I feel at that moment.  I give thanks for the new day ahead of me. Personally I too have been through some rough patches in my life and have dreaded each new day because I just knew that it would be as dreadful as yesterday.  Many People have experienced a time in there life where it seems that every decision they make seems to get them farther from where we want to be. At these times it is real easy to give into the situation and just let the feeling of our self being no good and unable to get anything right take over our mindset. When a person lets this happen they put themselves on the sidelines of life.

Positive self talk no matter what the situation is, will allow you a more open mind to see your way through what ever is going on in your life.  With a more open mind you will be able to understand more about the situation and what you need to do to deal with it. Negative self talk will pull you away from what is happening and basically avoid the situation.

I believe in myself, But over time through self analysis and trial and error I have a fuller understanding of my abilities and limitations. For instance I do not have a sense of negative self worth because I am not a pro football player. When I was was younger I never was very good at playing football and did not have the desire to become better. But I could ride a wheelie on my bike for a full city block. Even though a friend of mine finally road a wheelie a block and a half and beat my record. I  was satisfied with my accomplishment of one block and felt good for his hard work to accomplish setting a new record. But did not feel good for him at the expense of feeling negative for myself.

Positive self talk goes hand in hand with a deeper understanding of our own abilities and our desires as to what we feel comfortable with and like doing.  Hey I am completely happy being a spectator and watching the New England Patriots Play a game.

If you believe in yourself and have a decent understanding of your present abilities. You can be happier at whatever it is your desire to do.

A simple Spoken Word can do so much.

I was just browsing through different blogs on Tumblr one day and came up a truly relaxing blog with different nature pictures on it.  The name of the blog is Rustic-Charm. I was just clicking on one to the next kinda mindlessly and the below image popped onto the screen. As I sat there looking at it a wave of realization came over me, as I realized that this simple word pictured in front of me had the power to make so many changes to so many different things.

Forgive, So simple and yet so powerful.  The other day I asked my teenage daughter to do something she said she would. Later I asked her if she got it done and with that look of oops on her face she said no I forgot. I stood there a second pondering and then I just said I forgive you.  She looked back at me and just said thank you and went to do what she had forgotten. The feeling I got at that moment is what inspired me to put all this into words.

This was the same situation that many parents I am sure have repeated over and over again with their teenager. And I am guilty to as to what so often is the case harsh words are exchanged for their seemingly never ending forgetfulness. But this time was different the speaking of this simple word made the situation a non interruption to each of us. In even had the effect of lifting our spirits.

Pink for peace is founded on the simple philosophy that if you inspire people to change how they see themselves and see others in the world. That as a combined effort we the people will make the world a more peaceful place by simply reacting to all things in life in a less harsh, non judgmental manner. And a simple word of forgiveness spoken can start a wave of change in each of us.

Try It..

The Call To Live Everything

One of the sad things today is that so many people are frightened by the wonder of their own presence. They are dying to tie themselves into a system, a role, or to an image, or to a predetermined identity that other people have actually settled on for them. This identity may be totally at variance with the wild energies that are rising inside in their souls. Many of us get very afraid and we eventually compromise. We settle for something that is safe, rather than engaging the danger and the wildness that is in our own hearts. We should never forget that death is waiting for us. A man in Connemara said one time to a friend of mine, ‘Beidh muid sínte siar,’ a duirt sé, ‘cúig mhilliúin blain déag faoin chré’ – We’ll be lying down in the earth for about fifteen million years, and we have a short exposure. I feel that when you recognize that death is on its way, it is a great liberation, because it means that you can in some way feel the call to live everything that is within you. One of the greatest sins is the unlived life, not to allow yourself to become chief executive of the project you call your life, to have a reverence always for the immensity that is inside of you.

The Greatest Sin Is A Life Un-Lived

“A Blessing of Solitude” – John O’Donohue

Thoughts From Rev. Katie M. Ladd

With all that is going on in the world, I thought of this poem by John O’Donohue. Found in his book “Anam Cara” in the section “One of the Greatest Sins is the Unlived Life,” he writes:

“The shape of each soul is different. There is a secret destiny for each person. When you endeavor to repeat what others have done or force yourself into a preset mold, you betray your individuality. We need to return to the solitude within, to find again the dream that lies at the hearth of the soul. We need to feel the dream with the wonder of a child approaching a threshold of discovery. When we rediscover our childlike nature, we enter into a world of gentle possibility. Consequently, we will find ourselves more frequently at that place, at the place of ease, delight, and celebration. The false burdens fall away. We come into rhythm with ourselves. Our clay shape gradually learns to walk beautifully on this magnificent earth” (124-125).

To help us find that “world of gentle possibility” and to help our clay shapes “walk beautifully on this magnificent earth,” he gives us this poem:

A Blessing of Solitude
-John O’Donohue

May you recognize in your life the presence, power, and light of your soul.
May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging connects you intimately with the rhythm of the universe.
May you have respect for you own individuality and difference.
May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique, that
you have a special destiny here,
that behind the facade of your life there is something
beautiful, good, and eternal happening.
May you learn to see yourself with the same delight, pride,
and expectation with which God sees you in every moment.

USIP pursues this vision on the ground in conflict zones, working with local partners to prevent conflicts from turning to bloodshed and to end it when they do. The Institute provides training, analysis, and other resources to people, organizations, and governments working to build peace.

United States Institute Of peace

USIP Brings Together Experts and Practitioners in Peacebuilding to:

  • Identify the best ways to counter violent extremism and promote religious tolerance.
  • Develop practical tools to improve the rule of law in chaotic environments after violent conflict.
  • Rigorously test approaches to conflict prevention and peacebuilding to ensure the U.S. is using the most constructive and cost-effective tools to protect U.S. interests without violence.
  • Use traditional media, social networking, and emerging technologies to track, prevent, and resolve violent conflict.

There are Many many many individuals and organizations working on bringing about a less hostile more peaceful world.

Pink for peace can be instrumental in filling the gaps and bringing together all these individuals and organizations because we operate on one simple principle.  Help people instill more peace in their personal lives. This in turn will filter out to those they associate with. So this will create Friends and Family Groups that will be sharing their message in ever increasing circles of people they come in contact with. All these ever growing groups living in peace will one day overlap and fill the voids between all the peace organizations in the world. Thus creating a powerful unified voice for peace the rest of the world will no longer be able to ignore.

Start your new life of peace today.

We Elected Them…

I Voted

That’s right We All Elected Them. In The United States we elect people to the Federal Government, State and Local governments. But what is all to often is the case the majority of us never express our thoughts about any current issue. Or any issue that we feel is unjust and needs addressed.

We elect these people to represent us. So why do we never share our views with the people that can actually do something to make changes? Seems futile to complain about how an issue comes out when we done nothing to help influence the out come.

I am not up on a band wagon here pointing a guiltless finger at everyone else. I am just as guilty as most are,  who voice there concerns to the TV , friend or loved one. But never take the extra step to get my views to the place where they can be heard and maybe influence an out come.

Take the time to have a look at yourself the next time a big national event or issue has everybody talking about it. If you are feeling very passionate about the issue and it involves something that your representatives in the government will or should be involved in. Send them an e-mail and express your views on the issue to them.

After you do, You will feel a sense of satisfaction because you will no longer be standing on the sidelines. You will be involved in the solution. You do not have to take my word for it. TRY IT. and you will see for yourself.

Satisfaction brings happiness and happiness brings more peace to each of us.
